POSITIVE START IN PRACTICE AT OULTON PARK
The Airwaves Ducati team put in a good performance in the
two practice sessions at Oulton Park today. Championship leader
Shane Byrne was quickest in the first session and 3rd in this
afternoons practice whilst Leon Camier achieved a 5th and
6th place.
Leon, who completed an impressive 50 laps today, set his
fastest time of 1:37.793 mid way through the second 50 minute
session. Having held 4th place for much of second practice
Michael Rutter and Tom Sykes put in late fast laps to push
Leon into 6th. He commented afterwards;
“I am feeling positive about today although I need
to find some more consistency, I feel there is more to come
from my Airwaves Ducati and I am confident we will find more
time. Physically I am feeling ok, although the tight chicane
here does put some pressure on my shoulder it will not affect
my racing too much. I think I can do well in qualifying tomorrow,
this is a circuit I like and I am looking forward to racing
here on Monday.”
Shane Byrne was fastest in first practice and again challenged
for the top places in the second session. His fastest time
of the day, 1:37.023 came this morning on lap 13 of 26.
“Today was about race runs for us and this morning
I was fast and feeling good but this afternoon I had an interrupted
start to the session which meant that I was not as quick I
could have been. I have established a good race rhythm and
in both sessions my race simulation times were good. We have
a few things planned for tomorrow and I am confident I can
go a lot quicker.”
Qualifying for round 3 of the Bennetts British Superbike
Championship commences at 15.05 tomorrow, May 4th 2008.
