AIRWAVES DUCATI LOOK TO CONTINUE FORM IN ROUND 6
Airwaves Ducati travel to the 1.41 mile Mallory Park circuit
in Leicestershire this weekend, for round 6 of the Bennetts
British Superbike Championship.
Shane Byrne enjoyed a win and a 3rd place at the short but
demanding circuit in 2007, whilst Leon achieved two 8th place
finishes. Although it is one of their less favoured circuits
on the calendar, the Airwaves Ducati riders arrive at Mallory
Park confident having achieved a double one-two at Snetterton
a couple of weeks ago.
Leon Camier, who secured his debut BSB win at Snetterton
and is now 2nd in the championship behind his team mate, is
confident for a positive performance. “I am still coming
down from my high of winning at Snetterton. It is such a great
feeling to have my first win under my belt, especially as
I had to work quite hard for it in the race. We knew we were
capable of results like that and now we can use it to move
onwards and upwards for the remainder of the season. I am
looking forward to getting to Mallory Park and putting in
my best possible performance for Airwaves Ducati and securing
some solid championship points to take me into the second
half of the season.”
Shane now leads the championship with 235 points but has
mixed feelings about the approaching weekend. “I like
the people at Mallory Park and the fans always create a good
atmosphere as they can get so close to the track; however
it is not a circuit that’s on my list of favourites!
In terms of riding I like fast flowing circuits which Mallory
Park isn’t but I understand they have made some improvements
to it so hopefully that has made it more interesting for this
year. Regardless of the circuit I know that the Airwaves Ducati
team will prepare the best possible package for me and work
continuously hard throughout the weekend to ensure I come
away from this round with a good result.”
Round 6 of the BSB Championship takes place this Sunday June
29th at Mallory Park in Leicestershire.
