TEST ‘GOES TO PLAN’ AT CROFT
Following
the wet weekend of racing at Knockhill the Airwaves Ducati
team headed straight to Croft in Yorkshire to complete a 2
day official BSB test. Day one of the test was cut short due
to heavy showers but it remained dry for the second day, allowing
the team to test in a variety of conditions.
Airwaves Ducati focused on testing a new Ohlins suspension
system and a number of new Dunlop tyres over the two days.
The team rode 454km in total with Greg completing 113 laps
and Leon 100 laps. With an average track temperature of 23
degrees and an average air temperature of 14 degrees, Leon
recorded a fastest time of 1:20.6 in the dry and 1:31.4 in
wet conditions. Greg’s fastest lap in the dry was 1:19.9
and having only completed 15 laps in the wet he set a fastest
time of 1:31.7.
Following the successful test Greg commented, “It has
been a pretty good couple of days, we were lucky that it was
dry after the conditions in Knockhill! It was our first test
since the season started so there were a number of things
that we have wanted to try out but have not been able to at
the races. The ideas that we tried out all worked well and
we managed to test a number of new Dunlop tyres which provided
us with useful information for the rest of the season. Everything
went to plan; now we need to keep working and improving and
I will be aiming to start that at the next round at Oulton
Park.”
Leon Haslam was pleased with the two day test saying, “It
has been a useful couple of days, we have been able to work
on a number of things on the bike in both wet and dry conditions.
We tried out a number of things including tyres and suspension
which all went well and to plan. After my result at Knockhill
and the consistent times we were setting at Croft I am confident
for the rest of the season and I am looking forward to Oulton
Park next weekend.”
