RAIN AGAIN AT OULTON PARK
Rain fell all day at Oulton Park as the Airwaves Ducati riders
completed two free practice sessions. In the difficult conditions
Leon Haslam came 3rd in both sessions with Gregorio Lavilla
recording a 7th and 6th place finish.
In first practice a red flag minutes into the session resulted
in a long delay which was extended further due to heavy rain
and treacherous track conditions. Following an hour and a
half of no activity the riders returned to the track for the
remaining 40 minutes of the session. Greg’s fastest
time of 1:50.950 resulted in 7th position whilst Leon finished
in 3rd with a time of 1:49.278.
Leon times improved consistently throughout the second session.
His best time of 1:46.887 came on his final lap leaving him
3rd place. Greg’s set his fastest time of 1:48.028 on
his penultimate lap to finish 6th.
Following practice Greg commented, “It has been ok
today, just very wet! I tested a new Dunlop tyre and Ohlins
shock, overall the bike felt good. We will have to wait and
see what the weather is like tomorrow, obviously I am not
happy with how the weather has been today as I left a very
hot Spain behind but in general it has gone ok.”
Leon was pleased with his result saying, “I’m
happy with today as I have finished in the top 3 in both sessions
and everything is feeling good. The weather is pretty miserable
but we have just worked on perfecting our wet set up. We need
to see what the weather is going to do for the rest of the
weekend but I am hoping for rain on Sunday!”
