NO QUALIFYING ACTION AT MALLORY PARK
No track activity will take place for the Airwaves Ducati
team at Mallory Park today. After significant rainfall yesterday
and overnight the circuit was still struggling to drain water
from the run off areas. After a number of delays this morning
a decision was taken by Airwaves Ducati team manager Colin
Wright to not go out on track at all for the rest of the day.
His decision followed a meeting with event organisers, safety
officials and other teams.
Currently the grid positions for tomorrow’s races will
be according to championship points. Therefore Leon Haslam
will start from 3rd and Gregorio Lavilla 4th. However, BSB
officials are monitoring the situation on an hourly basis
regarding tomorrow’s activities.
Colin Wright has stated, “Would all Airwaves Ducati’s
sponsors and guests please take into consideration the advice
from the relevant agencies which asks for people not to travel
unless absolutely necessary. Today’s practice has been
postponed until now (1pm) and the rain is still falling, it
is unclear what will happen later today, furthermore, if conditions
do not improve dramatically racing tomorrow may not take place.”
