TOP FOUR FOR AIRWAVES DUCATI

The Airwaves Ducati team had a promising start to round 10 of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, achieving top 4 finishes in both of today’s practice sessions. Gregorio Lavilla rode consistently all day finishing 2nd in both practices. Leon Haslam worked through a busy test plan to achieve a 3rd and 4th place finish.

Both Greg and Leon were quickly on pace in the morning session and the warm conditions were resulting in some fast times. Leon recorded his fastest lap time of 1:20.640 with 10 minutes of practice remaining. He looked set to finish in 2nd place until his team mate bettered his time by 0.02 seconds on the final lap, moving Leon into 3rd.

In the afternoon both riders soon improved their times from the morning session. Leon completed 28 laps, more than any of his competitors. His fastest time of 1:20.404 came on his final lap and resulted in a 4th place finish. Greg lapped consistently throughout second practice. He recorded his fastest time of the day, 1:20.255 midway through the session which resulted in another 2nd place finish.

Greg commented on his positive results; “Practice has not been too bad today. I need something extra for tomorrow as the set up did not feel 100% but I can’t complain with two 2nd places. It is all looking good; after testing here and today’s result we know that we are fast which is great. Let’s just hope the weather stays like this all weekend!”

Leon Haslam is also feeling confident for the race saying, “We are getting there; I have a few things I want to try out tomorrow but I am really happy with the race run that I completed today, it all felt good. All I have to do now is make a decision on which Dunlop tyre to use for the race and then I will focus on qualifying. We are up there so I am confident we can put in a good performance on Sunday.”
