Airwaves Ducati Positive After Practice
Round 11 of the Bennetts British Superbike championship commenced
at Cadwell Park today. Leon Haslam finished fifth and second
in the days two free practice sessions, with Gregorio Lavilla
achieving a seventh and sixth place.
Throughout the first session Greg and Leon pushed hard on
the technically challenging circuit. Leon completed 24 laps
in the 50 minute session, with his fastest time of 1:28.440
coming on lap 12. Greg’s times continuously improved
and he set his fastest time of 1:28.756 on his final lap.
Both riders improved on their times in second practice. Leon
achieved a 1:27.728 on his final lap to finish 2nd behind
the Honda of Kiyonari. Greg lapped consistently throughout
the session setting a time of 1:28.272 to finish 6th.
Leon was positive about his day commenting, “I am feeling
a lot happier after second practice. We have tested some Dunlop
tyres on race runs and worked hard on the bike set-up. To
achieve my fastest time on a tyre that had completed 24 laps
is very positive and I’m feeling confident we have more
to come.”
Greg reflected on his day saying, “Today hasn’t
gone too bad for us considering this is Honda’s test
track, it is encouraging that our times are so close to theirs.
Of course we still have to work hard and to try and improve
our package. As long as we keep our concentration and find
a right tyre for tomorrow I am feeling confident for the race
on Monday.”
Qualifying commences tomorrow, Sunday August 26th at 14.40pm.
