IS YOUR GOLF CLUB UP FOR A CHALLENGE?
The English Golf Union (EGU) and English Women’s Golf
Association (EWGA) are inviting affiliated clubs to take up
the 2008 National Skills Challenge for juniors.
The exciting and innovative Skills Challenge covers the five
golfing disciplines of putting, chipping, pitching, bunker
play and long game and encourages juniors to practice their
game and improve their skills.
Any affiliated golf club can join the Challenge and they
will receive a variety of FREE resources including manuals,
scorecards and posters. Golf clubs can choose to take part
in the three official Challenge events, giving players an
opportunity to qualify for the National Final at Woodhall
Spa, or they can simply use the Challenges as part of their
coaching activities.
All information regarding the National Skills Challenge,
including Challenge dates and FAQ’s, can be found online
at www.getintogolf.org/skills. Golf clubs and juniors only
need to register there once and can then login to the interactive
online site for information, advice and activities.
Junior Organisers at affiliated golf clubs will shortly be
receiving a promotional letter regarding EGU and EWGA junior
initiatives including the National Skills Challenge. The letter
will highlight the variety of junior support currently available
from EGU and EWGA and it is hoped that Junior Organisers will
find this information helpful when planning for their 2008
season.
The National Skills Challenge is an initiative jointly provided
by the EGU and EWGA via England Golf’s ‘Whole
Sport Plan’ for golf and is an integral part of England
Golf’s vision to ‘Grow the Game’.
