NATIONAL GOVERNING BODY SUPPORT FOR DRIVING RANGES
The English Golf Union (EGU) and English Women’s Golf
Association (EWGA) are offering support and recognition to
independent driving ranges through the RangeMark and EGU Golf
Central initiative.
Independent driving ranges are a starting point for many
newcomers to golf and their role is fundamental to golf development
in England.
Golf ranges, who are not affiliated to the EGU, will be able
to register with the EGU/EWGA and receive support through
their Development and Club Services Teams, including help
to progress through the RangeMark accreditation process, a
listing on EGU Golf Central and access to an annual coaching
grant.
The RangeMark accreditation scheme aims to identify and recognise
quality ranges and is based on the GolfMark scheme for clubs.
To become accreditied ranges must meet high standards in Participation,
Environment and Child Protection & Duty of Care. Successful
ranges will also be able to take advantage of EGU/EWGA opportunities
to create links with local golf clubs and schools.
Richard Flint, EGU/EWGA Golf Development Manager commented,
“This exciting new initiative gives driving ranges the
opportunity to receive support and benefits from the EGU/EWGA,
which in turn will improve vital links between these facilities
and local golf clubs, increasing participation and membership.”
The RangeMark and EGU Golf Central initiative has been developed
‘by ranges for ranges’ and is based on ‘GolfMark’
the national scheme for golf clubs
