in Canberra, Australia, which concluded yesterday.
The pair finished with an aggregate of 578, seven strokes
ahead of the Victorian State pairing of Daniel Beckmann and
Josh Younger and 14 clear of the third placed team from Western
Australia.
Whitnell, who won five points from six on his debut in the
recent Home Internationals in Ireland, finished second in
the individual event on six under par 282, four strokes behind
the winner, Beckmann.
Whitnell led after the first round with 71, and was five
strokes behind going into a final round played in windy conditions.
But the Essex lad returned 69, the lowest of the day, to cut
the deficit by one.
Baldwin, from Lancashire, clinched third place on 292 from
South Australia’s Andre Na thanks to a final round 70.
Beckmann’s victory earns him an invitation into next
year’s Amateur Championship at Turnberry.
