ENGLAND BOYS EARN REVENGE OVER THE GIRLS
 England's

gained revenge for their defeat a year ago at Longcliffe when
they beat the England under 18 girls team 12-3 at Ogbourne
Downs in Wiltshire.
However, the scoreline didn't reflect the closeness of many
of the games with eight of the 15 matches finishing on the
final green.
The morning foursomes, with the girls receiving one shot
and playing from the yellow tees, just 253 yards less than
the boys, saw the boys win four of the five foursomes and
halving the other.
Three games went to the 18th with Jonathan Bell and Chris
Lloyd winning 2-up against Hannah Barwood and Holly Clyburn
and Billy Downing and Adam Myers finishing all square against
Raffi Dyer and Katie Mundy. In the other, Tom Berry &
Matthew Chapman squeezed home 1-up against Sarah Tyson &
Katie Best.
In the singles, the girls received two shots with five games
going to the 18th. In an all-Gloucestershire clash, Chris
Lloyd - boys captain for the day - played well but Hannah
Barwood birdied the last to win by 2 holes, while Cornwall’s
Billy Downing came back from 4-down to win the last three
holes and gain a 1-up victory over Katie Best.
Harry Whittle, Tom Berry, Matthew Chapman and Adam Carson
all had good wins and Adam Myers also recovered from being
well down to win on the last hole with a birdie.
James Burnett, like Chapman and Whittle, having his first
taste of England representative honours, earned a hard fought
half with Sian Evans from Kent but Max Smith from Berkshire
couldn’t overcome the short game skills of Kent’s
Sarah Tyson.
