TALENTED THREESOME TACKLE SKANDIA EVENT IN SWEDEN

Britton and Andrew Johnston, joint second in the recent Peter
McEvoy Trophy, along with Henry Smart, have been selected
to represent the English Golf Union in the Skandia Junior
Open in Sweden at the end of this month.
It will the first taste of overseas action with the EGU for
Kent-based Britton and the championship, which also has a
girls competition, is being played at the Falkenburg Golf
Club, near Gothenburg on 25th - 27th May.

Ward) was challenging for the McEvoy title after a third round
67 left him one stroke off the lead. But a closing 73 saw
him slip back on the same score as Johnston.
Johnston, 18, a former Middlesex under 14 champion, was capped
by England at under 16 level in 2005 and moved up to boys
representative golf in last year’s Boys Home Internationals
in Scotland. He was a semi-finalist in the British Boys Championship
at Royal Aberdeen last August and finished runner-up in the
South East Boys Championship and the SE Boys Qualifying. In
the McEvoy he again took a runners-up spot, finishing four
strokes behind the winner, Matthew Haines.
Smart, 18, from Surrey, is a former under 16 cap who has
come close to winning several junior titles including the
McGregor Trophy, South East Junior Championship and the Sir
Henry Cooper Junior Masters. He is a member of the England
under 18 training squad.
The Skandia Junior Open is a 54-hole tournament with a cut
after two rounds, the leading 48 players and ties going on
to contest the final round.
