Shaw leads at halfway in London Pride EGU Gold Medal
Gary Shaw from Northumberland is the halfway leader of the
London Pride EGU Gold Medal after scoring 38 Stableford points
over the Bracken Course at Woodhall Spa.
The Bellingham club member has a one point lead over Kenneth
Malone from Brampton Park in Cambridgeshire and Peter March
from the Puttenham club at Guildford in Surrey.
Six players share fourth place on 35 points, including defending
champion Marc Kuber. The 16 year old from Hendon's return
was just a point less then he opened with a year ago. However,
he was two points adrift at this stage last August and came
storming through on day two by adding a further 40 points
to win by three.
“It’s been a huge achievement to make it back
again this year,” said Kuber. “My main aim today
was to keep in contention for tomorrow. I didn’t feel
any pressure even though I hit my opening drive out of bounds.”
Two more juniors are well placed. Tom Wright from Long Ashton
in Bristol is also on 35 points while Edward Brown from Royal
Ascot is two further back on 33.
