ENGLAND FIELD STRONG TEAM IN FRANCE
England
will be fielding a strong team that blends experience and
youth against the international with France this week.
The match, played at Golf du Medoc in Bordeaux on 12th and
13th May, will see the international debut of David Horsey,
recent winner of the West of England tournament and John Parry
(pictured left - photo courtesy of Tom Ward) current Yorkshire
champion.
The England management team will be relying on experienced
internationals, such as Gary Wolstenholme, to help avenge
England’s unexpected defeat two years ago at Royal St
George’s. The team also includes Paul Waring, English
Amateur Champion, Robert Dinwiddie, current holder of both
the Scottish and Welsh stroke play titles and Adam Gee, winner
of the prestigious Lake Macquarie International Amateur Champion!
ship, which was held in Australia in January.
In form Jamie Moul, winner of last week’s Lytham Trophy,
Matt Cryer, runner up in the 2005 European Amateur Championships
and Ed Richardson another former winner of the West of England
tournament complete the team.
Cec Bloice, England Captain commented, “The course
is in superb condition and provides a good test for all the
players. It is an ideal match play course with severely undulating
greens that will test the players putting abilities.”
Peter Mattsson, EGU Director of Coaching added, “ The
two day match is going to be very much about choosing the
right strategy on a challenging course and about performing
on the greens. With the huge greens, putting will determine
the winner.”
