England extend their lead in France
After a successful mornings play the England team extended
their lead after lunch and have taken an impressive advantage
in their match against France at Golf du Medoc.
At the end of the morning foursomes England were 1 point
ahead following wins for the partnerships of Gary Wolstenholme
and Jamie Moul and Paul Waring and David Horsey.
Wolstenholme led the way in the afternoon singles with an
exceptional start achiving his largest international victory
with an 8 and 7 win over Stephane Piget. Moul continued his
recent good form with an emphatic win of 4 and 3. Waring,
who made a string of threes in the middle of his round, Dinwiddie’s
unrelenting consistency and strong finishing holes from both
Ed Richardson and Adam Gee defied the persistent rain and
all recorded significant wins.
Horsey and Matthew Cryer performed well but were up against
it when putts failed to drop. Despite this at the end of the
day England have put themselves firmly in the driving seat
with a lead of 8½ to 3½.
England Captain Cec Bloice said, “Thorough preparation
and attention to detail paid off, but we are mindful of not
being complacent and allowing the opposition the opportunity
to stage a comeback”.
