FLEETWOOD AND MYERS SELECTED FOR EUROPEAN YOUNG MASTERS
Tommy
Fleetwood (Formby Hall) and Adam Myers (Northamptonshire County)
will represent the English Golf Union in the annual 54-hole
European Young Masters tournament at Styrain Golf Club, Murhof,
Austria, on 27th - 29th July.
The pair finished in the top two positions in last year’s
McGregor Trophy at Radcliffe-on-Trent, Myers being the winner
by a shot, and both are members of the England under 16 training
squad. The non-travelling reserve is Eddie Pepperell (Frilford
Heath), the current English under 14 champion and another
member of the under 16 squad.
Fleetwood (pictured left - photo courtesy of Tom Ward) and
Myers were also England A team-mates in the Nations Cup during
the recent McGregor Trophy at Worthing, where they were joint
winners with the England B team - which included Pepperell
- against an international field.
Fleetwood, 15, was capped at under 16 level last autumn against
Scotland under 16s and against the England Girls under 18
team.
Beside winning the English under 16 Championship last year
when only 14, Myers was runner-up in the Northamptonshire
County Championship, tied fourth in the Reid Trophy and was
capped at under 16 level against Spain, Scotland and the England
under 18 girls.
The European Young Masters includes a girls competition with
a Nations Cup covering both, three of the four cards each
day to count.
