ENGLAND AND AUSTRALIA CONTEST NSW CHAMPIONSHIP
Gary Wolstenholme is aiming to bring back another Australian
prize as he prepares for the final of the New South Wales
Amateur Championship which takes place at Concord Golf Club
on 12th February.
The Englishman will be playing Won Joon Lee, who will be
playing at his home club, and will be wanting to reverse the
top two places from last weeks NSW Medal when Lee finished
in first place and Wolstenholme was runner up.
Wolstenholme's consistent and accurate play secured him a
2 and 1 victory in the semi final over Australian Richard
Gallichan. Wolstenholme was one up when they set off after
lunch to play the second 18 holes and he never allowed his
challenger to get ahead after that. It will be that consistency,
which allowed him to make birdies at five of the ten par 3
holes during the day, which will be Wolstenholme's biggest
asset going into Sunday's final.
Last year Wolstenholme came home from Australia with top
prize at the NSW Medal. This year England has already secured
the Lake Macquarie Championship, won by teammate Adam Gee
last week. They will be looking to take another victory from
the Australians before they return home.
