ENGLAND ARE AHEAD IN SPIRIT
After Day 2 of the Spirit International Championship, being
held in Houston, England's men and women mixed team hold a
2 shot lead at the top of the international scoreboard.
Their combined score is now 20 under par keeping them ahead
of South Africa and the United States who are holding second
and third place.
With best ball scores of 68 and 67 the squad of Jamie Moul
(Stoke by Nayland) and Oliver Fisher (West Essex) are in joint
eighth place on the men's team leaderboard, moving up from
eleventh place at the end of Day 1. England's women's team
of Felicity Johnson (Harborne) and Sophie Walker (Kenwick
Park) have continued their winning ways by holding on to the
top place in their team competition, which is now shared jointly
with Sweden.
Between the four players they have achieved 27 birdies over
the first two days of the tournament.
The event takes place every two years and comprises of 72
holes of best ball competition over four days. The men's,
women's and mixed team titles are all currently held by the
United States.
