THIRD YEAR FOR PHYSIOTHERAPY AND GOLF SEMINARS
As a result of the success of previous events the English
Golf Union (EGU) and English Ladies Golf Association (ELGA)
will again be offering seminars specifically dealing with
the topic of physiotherapy and golf.
This will be the third year that such an event has been held
and the programme consists of two one-day seminars that will
both focus on this subject that is becoming more important
in the coaching and preparation of top golfers.
Both days will be directed by Lynn Booth, the EGU's co-ordinating
physiotherapist, who will be supported by an impressive speaker
list, which includes EGU coaches and physiologists as well
as leading sports biomechanists.
Subjects that will be addressed include the mechanics and
anatomical demands of the golf swing, musculoskeltal profiling,
physiological testing and how video analysis can play a part
in the coaching of the game. Previous years have provided
delegates with a range of information and methods to support
the injured golfer and, more importantly, knowledge as to
how injury can be prevented.
The physiotherapy and golf seminars will be held at the National
Golf Centre in Woodhall Spa, the home training venue for England
men's national squads, on 9th and 10th December. Previous
delegates have included sports medicine doctors, physiotherapists,
healthcare professionals and coaches working with professional
and amateur golfers.
