PARRY TAKES ON THE PROFESSIONALS IN VIETNAM
John
Parry will represent the English Golf Union on the Asian Tour
in Vietnam later this month as a spin-off from his summer
victory in Denmark.
When the 18 year old from Yorkshire won the Danish Amateur
Championship after a three-hole play off against Mark Haagstrop
of Denmark back in late July, he didn't just collect the title
and the trophy there was also an invitation to compete in
the Asian Tour's Carlsberg Masters in Vietnam.
The 72-hole stroke play tournament is being played at the
Chi Linh Star Golf and Country Club near Hanoi from 17th -
20th November.
Parry, who will celebrate his 19th birthday on the opening
day of the championship, is one of the most promising of young
English golfers.
A former North of England Youth champion, the lad from Harrogate
won the McEvoy Trophy last year with a record 12 under par
272 after four rounds of 68. He was also runner-up in the
Carris Trophy and the Daily Telegraph Junior Championship
and this year he has won the Yorkshire Championship as well
as the Danish title.
His outstanding form has earned Parry promotion to England's
re-constituted Elite Squad.
