FALDO SUPPORT FOR FREE GOLF COACHING CAMPAIGN
The
2005 Free Golf Coaching for beginners campaign, organized
by the English Golf Union (EGU) and English Ladies’
Golf Association (ELGA) has got off to a great start, with
over 150 golf clubs across England already offering free taster
sessions to beginners of any age.
The EGU and ELGA are delighted with this early success and
estimate that at least 300 clubs will have signed up before
the end of the season. It is not only the governing bodies
that welcome this positive activity at grass roots level as
the Faldo Series has also offered its support to the campaign.
The Faldo Series was set up in 1996 to help nurture the next
generation of champion golfers. Through the Series, boys and
girls are able to experience top-level competition at Championship
Courses and also benefit through golf related seminars.
Commenting on the EGU and ELGA initiative, Nick Faldo said:
“This new initiative is an excellent way of encouraging
more people to get involved with the sport. Getting beginners
interested in golf is so important for the game and I’m
keen to do whatever I can to support that growth.”
Richard Flint, EGU Golf Development Manager added, “We
are thrilled that the Faldo Series is supporting this grass
roots programme and it is vital that we continue to work with
other bodies and organisations to develop the game”.
Dates and details of participating venues are available through
the recently launched ‘Get into Golf’ website,
www.getintogolf.org or the main EGU website, www.englishgolfunion.org.
Any golf clubs wishing to hold taster sessions and benefit
through increased awareness, lesson sales and membership can
find out further information and sign up via the EGU’s
website www.englishgolfunion.org. Free Golf Coaching is an
integral part of the EGU and ELGA’s ‘Get into
Golf’ structure.
