ENGLAND BOYS UNDER 16 v SCOTLAND BOYS UNDER 16
3rd OCTOBER 2004
England's youngsters on Sunday provided further evidence
that the future is bright for English golf when they defeated
Scotland Under 16s on the Hotchkin course at Woodhall Spa
by eleven matches to four. After a shaky start in the foursomes
when Scotland led at times in four of the five matches, England
recovered well to take a 3½ to 1½ lead at lunchtime.
In the afternoon England had a great start in the top match
when North of England Champion Adam Hodkinson defeated recently
crowned British Boy Champion Jordan Findlay by 2/1. One of
the highlights of the afternoon was the eagle two at the 336
yard 17th hole which gave 15 year old Daniel Torrance a 3/1
win over Darren Renwick. One of the loudest cheers came from
his father, former Ryder Cup Captain, Sam Torrance, who was
visiting the England National Golf Centre for the first time.
This match between the Under 16 golfers of Scotland and England
has been played each year for the past seven years, with England
being successful on each occasion to date.
