INCREASE IN GRANT AID FOR GOLF CLUBS TO COACH JUNIORS
As of 1st April 2004, the English Golf Union’s grant
aid to support junior coaching within all affiliated golf
clubs will increase.
In partnership with the English Ladies’ Golf Association
and supported by the Sports Practice of Marsh, the Junior
Club Coaching Grant initiative (formerly Junior Club Coaching
Programme) continues to grow, having provided coaching to
almost 50,000 boys and girls since its inception.
Golf clubs applying for the grant are required to offer coaching
through qualified PGA coaches for boys and girls of all abilities,
enabling juniors to improve their skills and develop links
with the golf club. In addition to the number of participants,
it is very encouraging that the number of girls involved has
doubled in the last five years, highlighting the close relationship
with ELGA.
Richard Flint, Golf Development Manager: “This initiative
has become an integral part of our strategy to develop junior
golf within clubs, providing opportunities to thousands of
youngsters from a diverse range of backgrounds”.
All affiliated golf clubs are being offered the opportunity
to apply for the increased amount of £125.00 to assist
with their junior coaching programmes (application forms and
details distributed at the end of March). Any clubs wishing
to obtain further information please visit www.englishgolfunion.org
or contact the Golf Development Department on 01526 354500
or juniorgolf@englishgolfunion.org
The EGU would like to thank the Sports Practice of Marsh
for their continued support of this initiative.
Junior Club Coaching Grant is one of many EGU initiatives
aimed at developing junior golf in England and is part of
their commitment to the England Junior Golf Partnership.
