SIX NEWCOMERS IN ENGLAND BOYS UNDER-16 TO FACE SCOTS
England has named six players new to international team golf
for the annual Under-16 clash with Scotland at Drumoig, Fife
on Sunday 5th October.
Adam Birdseye, Matthew Evans, Tom Oliver, Tom Sherreard,
Jordan Smith and Ian Winstanley will be making their international

an unbeaten record in the contest. The rest of the line-up
will be Jake Amos, Oliver Fisher, Tony Mitchell and Ben Parker.
Birdseye, from Buckinghamshire, enjoyed a successful run
in this year’s McGregor Trophy finishing fourth, and
also performed well in the North of England Boys Championship.
Evans was also prominent in the McGregor, which was played
on his home course at Rotherham. Oliver, from Nottingham,

for the past two years and has been prominent in several national
competitions.
Smith, from Surrey, has shown considerable promise over the
season, is a member of the South East Coaching Group and a
member of the EGU’s School of Excellence.
Winstanley, from Cheshire, who turns 16 next week, won the
English Boys Under-14 Championship for the Reid Trophy in
2001 and has performed well at Under-16 level.
Leicestershire based Amos won the Faldo Series at Woburn
this year and made his Under-16 International debut against
Italy at Rotherham as did Fisher, who went on to finish runner-up
in the McGregor Trophy over the same course.
Fisher is also the Essex Boys Champion and finished third
in the Essex Championship as well as fourth in the European
Young Masters in Germany.

International debut at Under-16 level against the Italians
this year, while Parker, who lives in Germany where his father
