'Get into Golf' Promotion in Full Swing
As part of the English Golf Union's (EGU) drive to promote
the game of golf in England, it has produced 'Get into Golf'
posters and leaflets in an attempt to take golf into the community
and break down barriers and perceptions, to inform people
of golfing opportunities that currently exist.
In the recently produced Golf Development Policy document,
one of the EGU's aims is 'to introduce more people to the
game of golf regardless of age, gender or background' and
the promotion of golf through the 'Get into Golf' literature
is one of many ways the EGU intends to address this.
The promotional material will be displayed in golfing and
non-golfing facilities and contains information on taster
sessions, equipment, rules & etiquette, where to play,
scoring, obtaining a handicap and joining a club. It is crucial
to provide people with a complete illustration of getting
into golf and combined with the comprehensive information
on the EGU website, potential golfers will know what is involved
and how to go about it.
Richard Flint, EGU Golf Development Manager comments: "The
EGU is committed to promoting the game of golf and it is essential
that we inform potential golfers that there are many opportunities
for them. We recognise the importance of promoting the sport
in non-golfing environments to show that it is accessible,
affordable and enjoyable".
The EGU has created several initiatives within its 'Get into
Golf' structure including free golf coaching for beginners,
a handicap scheme for non-golf club members, a membership
vacancy list and many projects specific to junior golf.
The 'Get into Golf' poster can be viewed on the EGU website
at www.englishgolfunion.org by clicking on 'Get into Golf'
and selecting the option at the bottom of the page.
