Junior Organiser's Handbook - Benefiting Golf Clubs Across
England
It has been just over 6 months since the launch of the English
Golf Union (EGU) and English Ladies' Golf Association (ELGA)
Junior Organiser's Handbook, supported by Nick Faldo, Nick
Dougherty and Laura Davies, with both organisations pleased
to have received such positive feedback.
The Junior Organiser's Handbook covers a wide range of topics
including junior memberships and fees, handicapping, recruitment,
access to structured coaching, competitions and guidance to
create a welcoming, friendly environment. It was designed
to challenge existing practices, a guide for golf clubs on
how best to encourage and promote junior golf in the future;
one of the key objectives of the England Junior Golf Development
Plan.
Development Officers from both the EGU and ELGA have been
conducting talks across England in an attempt to promote the
Handbook and also discuss issues within it. The Junior Handbook
is a working document and will change to reflect the evolution
of the game, therefore it is essential to obtain comments
for additions or amendments.
Richard Brown, EGU Junior Development Manager comments: "The
Junior Organiser's Handbook has been received very positively
by golf clubs and junior organiser's alike and is being used
as a tool to strengthen junior structures within golf clubs
in England".
