FISHER AND PARKER COMPETE IN EUROPEAN YOUNG MASTERS
Oliver Fisher (West Essex) and Ben Parker (Gut Waldhof) will
represent the English Golf Union in the annual 54-hole European
Young Masters tournament at Augsburg in Germany on 24-26 July.
The non-travelling reserve is Jake Amos (Birstall).
All three players were recently named in the England team
for the Under-16 international with Italy which precedes the
England Boys Under-16 Championship for the McGregor Trophy
at Rotherham, Yorkshire, on July 1.
Fisher, 14, the talented youngster from Essex, earns his
first overseas call having been the only under 16 to qualify
for this year's McEvoy Trophy and having won the Laddie Lucas
Spoon at Prince's for two years. He is a member of the Essex
under-18 squad and his form this year has seen him recently
added to the England School of Excellence.
Parker, 15, is the son of an English professional based in
Germany. Also a member of the School of Excellence, he enjoyed
good performances in last year's British Boys Championship
and the Carris Trophy. Following that, he made his international
debut in the under-16 international against Scotland last
autumn and also featured in the annual match against the England
under-18 girls team.
The European Young Masters, which was hosted by I Roveri
club near Turin for several years but moved to Germany two
years ago, also includes a girls competition - the English
competitors being Florentyna Parker (Royal Birkdale) and Kiran
Matharu (Sand Moor) - with a Nations Cup covering both, three
of the four cards each day to count.
