ELITE SQUAD DUO SHINE ON TOUR
England Elite Squad members Zane Scotland and Richard Walker
showed their pedigree on the PGA European Tour last week in
Algarve Open de Portugal at Vale do Lobo.
Walker finished in a tie for 12th place on 291 with Scotland
tied 50th on 298. Walker, although pleased with his performance
explained "I wasn’t really driving the ball that
well and didn’t putt any where near my best, but generally
speaking my performance this week has confirmed that I am
able to compete at this level”.
Walker, who earned his place in the Algarve Open following
his victory earlier in the season in the Portuguese Open Amateur
Championship, now moves on to Cologne to defend the German
Amateur title he won in 2002.
Commented Nigel Furniss, EGU Performance Director, “Both
Richard and Zane’s performances show the strength of
talent in the England Elite Squad and support the EGU’s
commitment through the World Class Performance Programme to
present leading amateurs with valuable experience in the pursuit
of developing into World Class golfers”
