SCOTLAND TO PLAY IN BENSON AND HEDGES
Zane Scotland, a member of the England Elite Squad will play
in the Benson and Hedges International Open at the De Vere
Belfry 8th – 11th May.
Scotland, 20, who played in the Benson and Hedges International
Open in 2001 is enjoying life on tour at the moment. He recently
finished tied 50th in the Portuguese Open and will this week
compete in the Italian Open.
On receiving the invitation Zane said “I am looking
forward to competing in the Benson and Hedges International
Open, it is a quality tournament and always has a high class
field. It will be a great experience and lots of fun”.
Zane, the youngest player to compete in the Open championship
at Carnoustie in 1999, is no stranger to playing on the PGA
European Tour. He played in the Cannon European Masters in
1999, the Compaq Grand Prix in 2000, The Benson and Hedges
and Murphy’s Irish Open in 2001 and the Spanish Open,
Portuguese Open and Great North Open in 2002.
Scotland, who has played 24 matches for England at senior
level, will be looking to produce the kind of form that recently
won him the Selborne Salver, saw him help England to victory
in the Sherry Cup and finish third in the individual scores.
Scotland received the invitation from Benson & Hedges
following their agreement to generously support England’s
World Class Performance Programme.
Commenting on the invitation EGU Performance Director said
