PROVISIONAL POLE FOR JORGE LORENZO IN HOLLAND, THIRD FOR
ALEX DEBON
The Dutch GP, held at the remodelled Assen circuit, could
not have started any better for the FORTUNA APRILIA team with
Jorge Lorenzo taking provisional pole and Alex Debon finishing
the first day of qualifying in third. The two Fortuna Aprilia
riders were always amongst the quickest riders, in both the
morning and afternoon sessions, with the morning session having
been extended to allow the riders to get used to the changes
to the circuit. In the afternoon qualifying session Jorge
made clear his intentions for Saturday’s race, proving
he is determined to reduce the 25-point deficit to championship
leader Andrea Dovizioso.
JORGE LORENZO, 1st (1.41.329)
“I have rediscovered my confidence and am enjoying
myself on the bike again. I was lapping fast from the beginning,
without any mechanical problems, and the times followed for
me. I could have gone even faster on my pole lap but I got
stuck behind a slow rider and had to break which cost me a
few tenths. We will keep working on the chassis and suspension
but we have a good base set-up and are confident of getting
a good result here despite the changes.”
ALEX DEBON, 3rd (1.41.967)
“The team have done a great job and we are continuing
the progress we made in Catalunya last weekend. I am happy
and confident about my chances of being amongst the top riders
and of helping Jorge in his World Championship bid. We can
still improve and will look to change the set-up a bit, but
when things are going well it’s best not to tempt fate
too much. Tomorrow I hope to confirm my place on the front
row.”
