LORENZO IS BACK TO TAKE PROVISIONAL POLE, WHILST BARBERA
IS ALSO AMONGST THE FASTEST
FORTUNA HONDA rider Jorge Lorezo has taken provisional pole
for the 250 Grand Prix of Qatar. The Mallorca rider, who is
back in action after serving a one–race ban at Sepang,
immediately showed his desire to get back in amongst the top
riders in the class. Jorge already looks to have a real chance
of winning in Qatar, and team-mate Hector Barbera demonstrated
his undoubted potential by ending the day sixth fastest.

Free session 1: 2’06.677, 5th, + 0.775
Qualifying session: 2’03.727, provisional pole
“The rest of the riders in the class have more rhythm
than me as I did not ride in Malaysia due to suspension. But
in the afternoon I found my own rhythm and went almost three
seconds faster than I had in teh morning. Tomorrow I believe
I can go even faster and knock at least another second off
my time. We need to be right up there. I was really looking
forward to getting back on the bike: at the start I did five
straight laps on race tyres at full pelt because I just wanted
to go fast again.”
Héctor Barberá
Free session 1: 2’07.930, 10th, + 2.028
Qualifying session: 2’04.369, 6th, + 0.642
“At six tenths back, I am close, I think we are getting
there. It has been hard work, but we are trying to learn as
much as we can without pressurising ourselves. We are beginning
to enjoy it, we made some big changes to the bike between
the first and second session which made a difference and I
enjoyed riding in the afternoon.”

“We are very happy, above all for Jorge, because it’s
always difficult to face a situation like he did in Malaysia.
But we have moved on now and are just thinking about Losail.
We have four races left now and they must serve as Jorge’s
pre-season for 2006, a year when he can go for the title.
We will try to finish the year in the best way possible.”
