CLARITY FOR BARBERA AS CONFUSION REIGNS FOR LORENZO
Everything is set up for tomorrow’s 250 race at inaugural
Turkish Grand Prix at which both Jorge Lorenzo and Hector
Barbera will start from the second row. Despite that, the
FORTUNA HONDA riders enjoyed differing fortunes with the former
suffering with set-up problems as the latter confirmed his
potential at this level. For Lorenzo, tomorrow’s warm-up
will be vital whilst Barbera will just be focused on the 20
laps of the Istanbul circuit that lie ahead of him.
Jorge Lorenzo
2nd free session: 6th, 1’58.635, + 0.733 off Daniel
Pedrosa
2nd qualifying session: 7th, 1’58.093, + 1.163 off pole
of De Angelis
“The truth is I always improve by about a second from
Friday to Saturday, but this time I managed only two tenths
and am down in seventh. I like the track, but have tried everything
and am still some way off the leaders. In the second section
of the circuit I am losing alot of time and we’ll have
to work on it tomorrow. We have been lapping fast from the
first free session but have not been able to improve since.
We will look at the situation closely in the warm-up to try
and resolve it.”
Héctor Barberá
2nd free session: 11th, 1’59.673, + 1.771 off Daniel
Pedrosa
2nd qualifying session: 6th, 1’57.969, + 1.039 off pole
of De Angelis
“From Australia to now I seem to have a different bike.
It makes a real difference and I am enjoying it. I know my
strength is not putting in flying laps, but I managed it easily
and know I have room to improve. I was held up yesterday and
made a mistake with the set-up as I changed it from Australia.
I am not thinking about the podium; I am feeling confident
and believing in myself.”
Dani Amatriain, Team Manager Fortuna Honda de 250cc.
“Jorge is having problems with the front-end of his
bike, but here we are being penalised for the speed of the
Aprilias. We have a difficult race ahead of us, but we want
to finish the season in the best possible way. These last
races of the season are our pre-season for 2006. We’ll
see what happens with Jorge tomorrow, we have to hope we find
a solution to his problems in the warm-up. For his part, Hector
is getting better all teh time and I am very happy with him.”
