FORTUNA HONDA RIDERS LOOKING TO IMPROVE
The impressive Istanbul Park circuit welcomed the FORTUNA
HONDA riders and their 250 counterparks on Friday as qualifying
got underway, although they had to endure some cold conditions.
Jorge Lorenzo and Hector Barbera both suffered various problems
with the bikes as the inaugural Turkish GP got underway. However,
both riders ended the session reasonably happy, although with
plenty of room to improve.
JORGE LORENZO
Free session: 5th, 1’59.245, + 0.704 off Porto
Qualifying session: 5th, 1’58.223, + 0.825 off Porto
“Things did not go well, I was lapping eight tenths
off the quickest rider both in the morning and the afternoon.
But I hope to improve tomorrow by up to a second, or a second
and a half. This morning I had a little scare, and at 150
kmh it did scare me, but there is one section I’m finding
harder than the rest. I like the circuit a lot, it is very
challenging and I enjoy that.”
HECTOR BARBERA
Free session:10th, 2’00.809, + 1.548 off Porto
Qualifying session: 15th, 1’59.908, + 2.500 off Porto
“We spent a lot of time testing tyres and in the end
we made a mistake with our selection, along with the set-up,
which weren’t quite right. I hope to resolve these problems
tomorrow and climb up the grid tomorrow.”
DANI AMATRIAÍN, Team Manager Fortuna Honda
de 250cc.
“We thought we would be better-placed after the first
day. Jorge had problems with the front section of the bike.
Hector had problems with his tyres and was quite a way back
in the qualifying session. It’s anew circuit for everybosy
and it’s easy to lose yourself as we don’t have
any reference points and a Honda that makes it very difficult
when you are trying to set up a Honda.”
