Catalunya GP Qualifying practice

LORENZO AND BARBERA, READY TO BATTLE TOMORROW

The FORTUNA HONDA duo tomorrow hope to take what would be the 50th victory for a Spanish rider in the 250 category. Lorenzo will start from second on the grid, after having qualified just three-tenths off pole and having dominated the three previous practice sessions before this afternoon’s final qualifying. This morning he even rode quicker than the time which handed pole to Pedrosa this afternoon. Barberá, seventh, had a few problems with the front end of his bike, probably due to the wind which breezed across the afternoon session, but he is confident of using tomorrow’s warm-up to solve the issues.

Jorge Lorenzo (48):
(Free 2: 1.46.220, 1st – 24/25 laps)
(Qualifying 2: 1.46.617, 2nd +0.379 -18/19 laps)

“In the four practice sessions this weekend, I’ve been first in three, which is very positive. In the last one I lacked a bit of confidence in the front end of the bike, which meant pole position escaped us. However tomorrow I will give my all as always, and I hope to give the crowd some pleasure with my performance, it’s going to be very hard for everybody.”

Héctor Barberá (80):
(Free 2: 1.47.894, 8th +1.442 – 18/24 laps)
(Qualifying 2: 1.47.819, 9th +1.071 -18/19 laps)

“the day hasn’t gone as well as I would have liked. I have a few problems with the set-up of the front end of the bike, I just don’t have enough feeling. I’ve not got enough confidence in fast corners, and I’m losing time there. We’re still working though, tomorrow I hope to make the most of the warm-up to make my choices for the race. It’s not just a question of the bike though because I need to push it to find the perfect set-up if not I’ll have tyre problems. It’s better for me that Jorge has been competitive all weekend because I have the perfect reference closer to me than if it was a rider from another team.”

Dani Amatriaín, FORTUNA HONDA Team Director:

“I’m very proud of the level of work and progression that the whole of the FORTUNA HONDA team has put in this weekend. If only tomorrow we can complete the work with a good result which would pay the fans back for the support and encouragement they are giving us.”
