LORENZO AND BARBERA EYE VICTORY
Both FORTUNA HONDA riders enjoyed a very satisfying day at
the second day of qualifying at Donington Park, demonstrating
they will be right up at the front of the field. Whilst Jorge
Lorenzo continues to search for his first victory in the 250
class, Hector Barbera is chasing his first podium finish and
showed he is capable of achieving that this weekend. JORGE
LORENZO dominated the three sessions that preceded the definitive
qualifying session on Saturday which decided the final grid
positions. However, he was ultimately pipped by Dani Pedrosa
who snatched pole by just 0.130 seconds with his final lap.
HECTOR BARBERA spent his time searching for consistent speed
rather than a one-off quick lap in preparation for tomorrow’s
race. The rider from Dos Aguas looks in good physical shape
after his recent injury problems and is hopeful ahead of tomorrow’s
race having qualified in seventh – on the second row.
JORGE LORENZO (48): 2nd (1.31.964) + 0.130
“I have a good feeling about tomorrow, both regarding
the bike and myself. What is important, though, is the race
and that is tomorrow. I am hoping to get my first victory
as soon as possible. I did not feel as comfortable with the
qualifying tyre on today but I am satisfied with the rhythm
I found. I hope to get a good start and achieve my objective
of winning.”
HECTOR BARBERA (80): 7th (1.32.812) + 0.978
“Physically I am in good shape. I have found quite
a good rhythm here and am ready to prove I can compete with
teh top riders. The Championship is in a very important stage
now and so it’s important to do things well. Although
I had some problems with the qualifying tyre, I think I am
well prepared for tomorrow.”
