THE FORTUNA HONDA RIDERS PREPARE FOR THE INAUGURAL CHINESE
GRAND PRIX
Fortuna Honda riders Jorge Lorenzo and Hector Barbera both
performed well during both days of qualifying for the Chinese
Grand Prix. Lorenzo will start on the front row after just
three races in the category and will be hoping for a spot
on the podium. His team-mate Hector Barbera was slightly disappointed
after qualifying, but will start the race from the second
row.
Jorge Lorenzo
4th - 2.06.544, 0.348 behind pole.
“I was not down, but I realise that I lack confidence
in myself. Each time I get closer to the leaders it grows
and confidence in this sport is very important. My riding
style has changed, I am not riding as I did in 125 and I try
to save the tyres as much as possible. The team understand
me more all the time, but they are not completely sure of
me yet. I must keep on working, I’ve improved my starts
and I hope to show that tomorrow.”
Hector Barbera
6th, 2.07.437, 1.241 behind pole
“I went better today than yesterday but I’m still
some way behind pole. I’ll start from the second row,
but I was more than second behind pole. We are heading in
the right direction although I was a position better off in
Portugal. I hope to have a good race, though, and my rhythm
is good. We need to do some more work on the tyres but we
are not in bad shape.”
Dani Amatriain, Team Manager Fortuna Honda 250cc
“I am very happy because we are clearly improving.
With such young riders you have to take things slowly but
the work has been excellent. With Jorge we have taken an important
step forward, and if he gets a good start we could have a
very good result. Hector has to do more work, but I believe
in him and think he will improve in the race. I hope both
riders have a good race.”
