WINS FOR CADEI AND GIANNIBERTI AT VALLELUNGA

Niki Cadei (Rossocorsa) and Nicolas Gianniberti (Ineco/RAM) won the two Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy races held today at the “Piero Taruffi” Circuit at Vallelunga. However, the leaders of both classifications remain unchanged, with the two drivers topping the points tables driving for the Motor dealer team: thanks to two second places, Andrea Belluzzi heads the Pirelli Trophy, while one win and a second place is enough for Benedetto Marti to increase his lead in the Shell Cup.

Race 1 was clearly dominated by pole man Cadei, who, having got away well, proceeded to gradually pull away from Belluzzi (Motor) until he had about ten seconds in hand, which he pretty much maintained to the flag. Belluzzi also had a virtually solitary race, as he soon built up a cushion over his pursuers, thus taking a valuable second place. There was a very closely contested dice for the third step of the podium between Gianniberti and Ciro (Motor): the outcome was decided with a few laps to go when the Motor driver was stuck in the gravel in the run-off area having run wide. In the Shell Cup, top honours went to Peter Reichegger thanks to a great start. Marti, who had lost ground at the start, managed to climb his way back up to second place, finishing ahead of Prinoth.

Race 2 saw Gianniberti stage a spectacular climb up the order to get the better of first Ciro and then Belluzzi, to claim his second win of the year. The Motor driver from San Marino repeated his second place from race 1, thus consolidating his lead in the classification, while Ciro made it to the third step of the podium after fighting right to the very end with Belluzzi. In the Shell Cup, it was a third win this season for Marti, who on this occasion was unchallenged. The Motor driver clearly beat Sauto and Molteni, who were involved in a closely fought final duel with Ragazzi, who was later penalised for an earlier coming together with Turrini. Around four thousand spectators were on hand to watch all the excitement of the Prancing Horse one-make series and they were also able to admire close up a large number of Ferrari road cars, at the circuit as part of the “Emozioni in pista Roma 2008” event, as well as the Rome leg of the Ferrari Club Italia Trophy.
