PRESS RELEASE AF CORSE
A few days before the FIA GT championship collective tests,
Monza 13 and 14 March, the Team Af Corse announces its crews.
The Ferrari F430 Gt number 50 will be driven by Toni Vilander
, Gt2 class champion in charge, vice-champion Gianmaria Bruni
will be his team mate. The twin car number 51 will be driven
by an unprecedented pair of drivers coming from Gt1.
Christian Montanari, best rookie last championship, will
share the wheel of his Ferrari F430 Gt with the Gt1 champion
in charge Thomas Biagi.
Amato Ferrari: "I am confident that
this year I will have very qualified drivers. Besides Vilander
and Bruni, I have two drivers as Biagi and Montanari from
Gt1 shows that the category Gt2 is becoming more important.
This season we will see a great battle between the many Ferrari
and Porsche, and then there is a lot of curiosity about the
new Aston Martin. I am very pleased to be able to deploy the
two 2007 champions.”
Thomas Biagi: "After three years with
Maserati, with which I won the title last year, I decided
to go with the Team Af Corse, not only because I have a lot
of esteem towards Amato Ferrari, but also because I wanted
to get the chance to prove myself in a category, the Gt2 that
I think it will be very competitive and has the potential
to become the queen of the class Fia Gt. I have great confidence
in the team, the Ferrari F430 Gt and Michelin and I am sure
that with my team mate, well known since last year, we have
all it takes to do well.”
Christian Montanari: "Race with the
Team Af Corse in my second year in the FIA GT championship,
makes me very grateful. Professionalism and results marks
the Amato Ferrari team. I know many people inside the team
and this will help me to grow in the best way. The Gt2 will
be a very competitive category with many professional drivers
and race together with Thomas Biagi, champion of Fia Gt, gives
me more confidence . I look forward to drive in Monza in the
next few days.
