FERRARI RACING DAYS AT VALLELUNGA
The Vallelunga Circuit hosts a red Ferrari weekend on 3rd
and 4th May: the track dedicated to the memory of Piero Taruffi,
will see around sixty Prancing Horse cars in action: thirty
F430 Challenge cars taking part in the second round of this
season’s Italian series of the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli
Trophy and a similar number of road cars, from the Enzo to
the F50, the F40 to the 430 Scuderia, will be put through
their paces on track by their owners, taking part in the “Emozioni
in pista Roma 2008” (Excitement on the Roman track 2008)
event.
The first round of the one-make series, held in Monza a month
ago, saw Andrea Belluzzi (Motor) and Nicola Gianniberti (Ineco/Ram)
get their names on the trophies, having shared the wins in
the two Pirelli Trophy races, with the San Marino driver holding
a six point lead in the overall classification. Thanks to
an amazing double at Monza, Benedetto Marti (Motor) comes
to Vallelunga with a nine point advantage in the Shell Cup
standings.
The 2008 format consists of two races, lasting 38 minutes
plus one lap, without the obligation to make a pit stop to
change drivers: driver pairings split the workload equally
on track, with qualifying 1 and race 1 for one driver and
qualifying 2 and race 2 for the other. The age limit for taking
part in the Youth Cup, the winners of which get to test an
F 430 GT come the end of the season, has been reduced to 28.
Saturday is given over to free practice and qualifying (first
session at 14.00, the second at 16.00) while the two races
take place on Sunday at 11.20 and 15.20. Ferrari owners will
reach Vallelunga on Saturday morning, having set out from
the centre of Rome and will be back on track on Sunday.
Both Ferrari Challenge races will be broadcast on Sky Italia:
race 1 live (Sky Sport 2) and race 2 recorded (17.15, again
on Sky Sport 2.) Repeats will be shown at 20.00 (race 2, Sky
Sport 3,) at 24.00 both races, Sky Sport Extra) and the following
day at 23.30 (both races, Sky Sport 2.)
