Record-setting Ferrari in Silverstone at the weekend
The English race track of Silverstone will host the “Ferrari
Racing Days” during the upcoming weekend. Over the weekend
races of the European Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, exclusively
for F430, and the Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge, dedicated
to the historical cars with the Prancing Horse and open also
for cars from Maserati, will be held.
Amongst the participants of the third round in the Ferrari
Challenge there is also Bruno Senna, nephew of three-time
Formula One champion Ayrton Senna. The young Brazilian, this
year driving in the GP2 championship behind the wheel of a
F430, will challenge the usual participants of the Challenge
Europe. On the advent of the race in Silverstone in the overall
standings the Italian Max Blancardi (Motor/Malucelli) is leading
in front of Irishman Michael Cullen (Rossocorsa) and the Swiss
Henri Moser (Kessel Racing). In the Shell Cup, reserved for
the Gentleman Drivers, the Monegasque Philippe Prette (Baron
Service) is leading the classification.
Besides the races in Silverstone also cars maintained by
the F1 Clienti department in Maranello will drive some free
laps. Standing out amongst these cars are a F1- 90 (ex Mansell),
a car, which gained the Pole Position for the British GP in
the year 1990 exactly on this circuit, and eight world champion
cars, from the F399 to the F2004.
The circuit in Northamptonshire will be the location of this
season’s first appearance of the FXX Program, a program
cared for, like the others, by the Ferrari Corse Clienti department.
At the weekend there will also be some space for the street
cars from Maranello in two parades: while the first one -
within the frame of the 20th anniversary of this prestigious
model - is dedicated to the Ferrari F40, the second one tries
to set a record for the Guinness Book for a meeting of the
most cars from Ferrari ever, with more than 300 cars with
the Prancing Horse to be expected on the race track on Saturday,
9th June.
