2007 FIA GT Championship Silverstone
The second round of the 2007 FIA GT Championship will take
place at the Silverstone circuit in England, over the weekend
of the 6 May.
After securing a one-two finish at China’s Zhuhai circuit
on 25 March, the Ferrari F430 GT cars entered by Team AF Corse
Motorola also line up as favourites in the GT class for this,
the first European round.
Worth noting in the team run by Amato Ferrari is the return
to the cockpit of Jaime Melo who, for this weekend stands
in for Stephane Ortelli, who will be busy at Valencia as there
is a date clash with a Le Mans Series race. Therefore, the
Brazilian, who is the reigning champion in the category, will
share the wheel of car number 51 with Gimmi Bruni.
“After racing in the first four races of the 2007 American
Le Mans Series, scoring wins in all of them driving a Ferrari
F430 GT, I am very happy to get the opportunity to do this
race in Europe with the AF Corse Motorola Team, with which
I won the championship last year,” commented Jaime Melo.
Also confirmed is the crew of Dirk Muller and Toni Vilander
who come to Silverstone carrying 20 kg of ballast in the car,
as stipulated in the rules because of their victory in China
(the other crew carries 15 kg.)
