Spectacle and wins in Ferrari Racing Days at Valencia
The Ferrari Racing Days at Valencia (Spain) concluded today
with the highlights of the event. Taking to the track at the
Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo were the
F430 in the European Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy and
the historic cars in the Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge,
competing in the final races on the card. Also in action,
putting on a special demonstration were Ferrari single-seaters
from the past, coordinated by the Maranello F1 Clienti department.
In the one-make series, the main class saw victory go to
Ange Barde (Modena Cars Racing) in race-1, with the Frenchman
crossing the line ahead of Casè/Passuti (Ferrari GB
Dealer Team) and Wido Roessler (Tamsen.) Then, the afternoon’s
race saw Casè/Passuti emerge victorious ahead of Ross
Kaiser (Ferrari GB Dealer Team) and Barde.
Dennis Huebner (team Baron) took top honours in the morning
race for the gentlemen drivers in the Shell Cup, winning from
Ettore Contini (Kessel Racing) and Johnny Guitard (Team FWE.)
The finishing order in race-2 then saw Contini get the better
of Huebner and Konstantin Ioannidis (Kessel Racing) who finished
second and third respectively.
In the 360 Modena class, the cars still eligible this year,
alongside the F430, both victories went to Raffaele De Simone
(Ineco Ram.)
Spectacular action and excitement there was aplenty in the
races for the Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge, the championship
with eligibility restricted to historic Ferraris, with Maseratis
also allowed to compete since 1999.
The wins in grids A + B (single-seaters, sports prototypes
and GT cars fitted with drum brakes) were split between the
1956 Maserati 250 F of Peter Heuberger in race-1 and the 1955
Ferrari 750 Monza brought to the track by Carlos Monteverde
in race-2.
As for group C, (cars with disc brakes,) the 1981 Ferrari
512 BB LM of Massimo Sordi won both races.
The European championships will be back on track over the
weekend of 25th June at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) while
the Italian Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy series will tackle
the fourth round of the season on the weekend of 18th June
at Mugello (Florence.)
