DTM partner of the ‘Ball des Sports 2008’
No doubt: when the current and former sports, politics and
entertaining leading lights meet at the 38th edition of the
‘Ball des Sports’, DTM just has to be there, too.
Therefore, the guest list features Audi aces Martin Tomczyk
and Timo Scheider as well as Mercedes-Benz drivers Susie Stoddart
and Mathias Lauda. Other celebrities on the list are the likes
of track-and-field World Champions Franka Dietzsch and Betty
Heidler, World Fencing Champions Britta Heidemann and Peter
Joppich, the World Handball Champions, the World Women Football
Champions or the World Women Hockey Champions. And just as
it was the case last year, DTM is partner of this top-class
event held in support of the ‘Deutsche Sporthilfe’.
“Following last year’s success we are delighted
with again being partner of the ‘Ball des Sports’
and engaging in support of the ‘Deutsche Sporthilfe’,”
said Thomas Betzler, Board Member legal affairs and finances
of DTM rights holder and promoter ITR e.V. Last year, the
exclusive ‘DTM Race Club’ already proved to be
a popular meeting point for sports, politics and entertainment
celebrities. And this year, the guests are going to again
meet there for the after-show party to let the evening die
away while chatting in relaxed atmosphere.
In the style of the Olympics in Beijing, this year’s
‘Ball des Sports’ has got the motto ‘Night
of the Dragons’, with the culinary programme, provided
by ‘Feinkost Käfer’, also featuring a Far
Eastern touch. German TV presenter Johannes B. Kerner will
host the evening the tried and tested way while Barbara Schöneberger
will appear as singer, this year. The 33-year old will perform
several tunes of her debut album. And at midnight, a special
guest will enter the stage: Britain’s pop musician Bryan
Ferry. The German government will be represented by Michael
Glos, Minister for Economic Affairs, Franz-Josef Jung, Minister
of Defence, Peer Steinbrück, Minister of Finance, Heidemarie
Wieczorek-Zeul, Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development
– and Brigitte Zypries, Minister of Justice. While Hermann
Otto Solms and Susanne Kastner represent the Federal Diet
and Prime Minster Roland Koch as well as three und Ministers
of State attend the event as representatives of the Hessian
government.
