DTM to race three more years at Hockenheimring
Hockenheim. During the season opener, the board of the DTM
rightholder and marketing organisation ITR e.V. signed a new
agreement with the management of the Hockenheim-Ring GmbH.
The new contract ensures that the most popular international
touring car series will be racing at the Motodrom in the German
province of Baden-Württemberg in the next three years.
Until 2010, the opening round and the finale of each DTM season
will be held at the Grand Prix circuit.
“We are happy that with this new agreement, we have
been able to extend our long-standing partnership with three
more years”, says Hans Werner Aufrecht, chairman of
the board of the DTM rightholder and marketing organisation
ITR e.V. “The spectators at Hockenheim are very enthusiastic,
which is why we always like to come to Hockenheim with the
DTM.” Georg Seiler, managing director of the Hockenheim-Ring
GmbH, says: “The DTM and Hockenheim just belong together.
Every year, the DTM races are among the highlights of our
event programme. Last year, we were crowned as the Organiser
of the Year by the ITR e.V. Both this award and the new contract
are a motivation for us to organise the DTM races at the Hockenheimring
Baden-Württemberg in an even more fan-friendly and attractive
way.”
The DTM has a long-standing tradition at Hockenheim: Since
1995, the circuit has been hosting the first and the final
round of every season. The history of the season finale in
the motor racing city even dates back to 1988, when Hockenheim
first hosted the final round of the season. Apart from 1985,
the second season in history of the DTM, the series had at
least one round at Hockenheim every year.
