DTM meets surfing – during the Word Cup at Sylt
Sylt/Wiesbaden – the most popular international touring
car series travels to Sylt. Within the scope of the Colgate
Surf World Cup, DTM presents itself to all the surfing and
motor-racing enthusiasts. On the event’s final weekend,
the World Cup will be attended by Audi drivers Tom Kristensen
and Mike Rockenfeller as well as Mercedes-Benz driver Mathias
Lauda, son of Formula 1 World Champion Niki Lauda. The DTM
aces will bring along an original DTM car for a pit-stop demonstration
on the seaside promenade. The mechanics will show the crowds
that a tyre change can be executed in less than four seconds.
While Björn Dunkerbeck & Co. make for top speeds
and extraordinary sports performances on the water, the DTM
drivers will spend their time with the spectators in the breaks
between the competitions. In the ‘Free Magazin’
pit lane, the crowds will have the chance of taking a close
look at the windsurfers’ material and getting hints
of the DTM drivers at the same time. Just a few meters further
down, they also can carefully inspect the DTM high-tech racers.
Furthermore, the drivers are available for interviews and
signing autographs. And there is one man who probably just
can’t wait for the DTM show: windsurfing legend Robby
Naish who is regarded as a true motor-racing enthusiast. While
Mathias Lauda is an enthusiastic surfer and will use this
opportunity to watch the professionals at close range and
ask them for some piece of advice, now and then.
