Three Audis on top in qualifying at the Nürburgring
In qualifying for the eighth DTM season round at the Nürburgring,
Martin Tomczyk claimed pole position. With his Audi A4 DTM,
the driver from Rosenheim set the outright fastest time of
1.23.197 minutes ahead of his fellow Audi drivers Timo Scheider
and Tom Kristensen. For German driver Tomczyk, it is the fifth
pole of his DTM career and the first one of the season. Behind
the Audi trio, Canadian Bruno Spengler qualified fourth with
the AMG Mercedes C-Class. Reigning DTM champion Bernd Schneider
is fifth, Paul di Resta claimed seventh place with the 2005-spec
AMG Mercedes C-Class behind Jamie Green while Mika Häkkinen
will be starting from eighth position. Mattias Ekström,the
leader in the DTM points’ standings, failed to make
it into the third and final qualifying heat. He will be starting
from tenth place.
