Franck Mailleux (Manor Motorsport) won the tenth season round
of the Formula 3 Euro Series at the 5.245 kilometres long
“Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello”. Romain
Grosjean (ASM Formule 3) extended his points lead in the Formula
3 Euro Series by finishing second. The 21-year old Frenchman
now has a five points’ margin over Sébastien
Buemi (Mücke Motorsport), who finished fifth. Third place
was occupied by Renger van der Zande (Prema Powerteam). For
the 21-year old Dutchman, it was his first podium finish in
the Formula 3 Euro Series.
The tenth round of the season was one of the most exciting
in history of the Formula 3 Euro Series. For many laps, Dani
Clos (Signature-Plus), who had taken the lead at the start,
defended his place against Mailleux. On lap twelve, the Frenchman
finally succeeded in overtaking the Spaniard and he immediately
pulled clear. Two laps later, Grosjean also overtook Clos
as the latter had to hold off a charge by Van der Zande. After
one more lap, Van der Zande overtook Clos and thus secured
himself third place.
Franck Mailleux (Manor Motorsport): “I am very happy
with my maiden win in the Formula 3 Euro Series. Over five
laps, I was battling with Dani Clos for the lead and I finally
won.“
Romain Grosjean (ASM Formule 3): “Today, my goal was
scoring more points than Sébastien Buemi to extend
my lead in the championship standings. I succeeded in doing
so.”
Renger van der Zande (Prema Powerteam): “I am happy
with my first-ever podium finish in the Formula 3 Euro Series.
This result is particularly nice as my team is from Italy.
We had a few bad weekends, but now we are slowly making our
way back. We have been doing a good job throughout the weekend.”
