GUINTOLI
IMPROVING: TENTH POSITION CONQUERED.
ELIAS WILL START FROM THE FIFTH ROW
Positive day for the Alice Team rider Sylvain Guintoli. Since
the morning, in the free practice ridden on wet track, the
French rider remained in first position for various minutes
concluding in eight position because slowed down, not on purpose,
by Dovizioso. In the session valid for the starting grid,
the Frenchman has registered good performances straight away,
concluding in tenth position conquered in the last attempt
at his disposal. His teammate, Toni Elias, has improved his
lap time from the first day, but will have to start from the
fourteenth position that means fifth row. The Catalan riders
will try to improve the set up of the bike in tomorrow’s
warm up to try to gain as many positions as possible in the
race that will begin at 2pm local time.
Sergio Verbena – Sylvain Guintoli’s track
engineer
“A good qualifying for us. This has been a result that
underlines the good work done in these two days of work. The
most positive thing is that today is the first time we were
competitive both on the wet and on the dry. The track wasn’t
perfect today because every rider, before using the qualifying
tyres, were lapping much slower times compared to yesterday.
Today everything went well, we have used all four soft tyres
at our disposal and I have to thanks all my Team for the perfect
work done today.”
Sylvain Guintoli – Alice Team rider (10th best
lap time in 1'36.823 – Total laps 26)
“The track wasn’t as fast as yesterday. It was
dry, but only at the end of the session it reached the same
grip level of yesterday. I am happy of this weekend of race,
I really enjoyed it and I hope to do the same tomorrow. This
has been the first time we are competitive also on dry and
this is the most positive thing for all of us. I have to thanks
the Team who has done a great job today. It is also thanks
to them if we are improving.”
Toni Elias – Alice Team rider (14th best lap
time in 1’37.287 – Total laps 25)
“We didn’t improve much. We have encountered
the usual problems, but we know that the situation can’t
change just after one day. The qualifying didn’t go
so well and we will have to work intensively in tomorrow’s
warm up to straighten up the situation as much as possible.
The objective is to enter in the top ten in tomorrow’s
race: I will do my best as always!”
