Gran Prix of Valencia. Free Practices
ALEX
BARROS IN SEVENTH ON THE FIRST DAY OF FREE PRACTICES, WHILST
CHAZ DAVIES SUFFERS A CRASH.
The first day of Free Practices has once again seen the day
dominated by Casey Stoner and his Ducati GP7, as evidenced
by his first positions in both of the day's sessions, and
demonstrating the potential the Australian holds. The Pramac-d'Antin
Team had varying results, with Alex Barros finishing the day
in seventh place, whereas his team mate, Chaz Davies, suffered
a heavy crash during the morning session and was unable to
partake in the afternoon session after being transported to
the Hospital of Valencia to verify the extent of his injuries.
The Qualifying Practice will begin at 13:50 PM (local time)
and will determine the starting order for the race on Sunday.
Alex Barros (23 laps. 1´33´54).
“During the afternoon free practice, we were able to
improve the front and the rear a lot, for which I'm satisfied
and confident for tomorrow morning. Also, we have tried to
find the best tire, as far as durability, looking towards
the race on Sunday. Concerning the engine, we continued to
perfect small aspects of the delivery, and have reaped it's
benefits, In addition, we're starting tomorrow with a fresh
engine which will give me a little "extra boost"
and help me to lower my times so I can get a good spot on
the grid during Qualifying”.
Chaz Davies (Crash). ”It's a shame
I crashed this morning, because I had a good feeling with
the bike and was going well. The crash was my fault, because
on my out lap I went a bit slow and when I tried to force
the pace coming onto the straight the rear tire was still
cold and the traction control wasn't able to compensate so
I was launched up. Tomorrow I'll try to ride, and I hope I'm
not in too much pain because now my hand and back are hurting
pretty bad”.
