Winter Test 2007 – 2 day Sepang Circuit (Malaysia)
GOOD PROGRESS FOR ALEX BARROS, INDISPOSITION FOR
ALEX HOFMANN
Under the hot sun in Sepang , Alex Barros continued in a
positive way the development of the Ducati GP7 equipped with
Bridgestone tires, stopping the timer on 2’02.538, the
fourth fastest time at the end of the second day test in program
on the Malaysian track. Alex Hofmann, feeling little off colour
with stomach cramps, was unable to continue the development
program at full pace, yet obtained a final time of 2.03.895.
The three days in Malaysia are in preparation for the MotoGP
World Championship that will start on 10 March in Qatar. The
testing is an opportunity to put the new Ducati GP7 through
its paces and for the PRAMAC D’ANTIN MotoGP Team to
establish its position against the other competing MotoGP
teams.
ALEX
BARROS (2’02.538 – 54 laps): “Today
is going very well, and we have made significant improvements
on yesterday. Thanks to the suspension and general set-up
modifications, I have felt more confident in the GP7 which
has allowed me to push harder and reduce the lap times. We
have worked on the posterior trying different tires individualizing
a better one; with the front I feel very well. The electronics
has been further optimized and I’m very satisfied at
the end of this test day. Tomorrow we’ll work in particular
on the tires and rear ”.
ALEX HOFMANN (2’03.895 – 26 laps): “Unfortunately,
today hasn’t been a good day; I have had stomach’s
problems which have not allowed me to run as I had would have
liked to. I was at 50%, for this reason we haven’t done
as much work as I would have liked tot. We have lowered the
time thanks to the general set-up modifications. I haven’t
tried the tires because I’ wasn’t at 100%. I hope
to feel better tomorrow because we have a lot of work to get
through ”
FABIANO STERLACCHINI – Track Engineer of Alex
Barros: “The main focus of the day was to focus
on the development of the chassis. On the rear, we have tested
different tires, in order to find the best one. We have improved
the gearing and have made some software refinements”
EMANUELE MARTINELLI – Track Engineer of Alex
Hofmann: “We can haven’t efficaciously
work because Hofmann suffered for a general indisposition.
Physically he was in a lot of pain and couldn’t work
as hard as he liked to. We round a little in the morning and
we have start again at 3.00 p.m to 6.00 p.m . We have some
general set up work to complete. Tomorrow we’ll be very
busy trying to recover the time lost today.
